Spring flowers in the Shumen Plateau-photographed and listed by Kaloyan Zhivkov

Enjoy those beautiful spring flowers in the early days of spring! From left to right: Cyclamen coum (cyclama)-a rare and protected plant, Crocus flavus, Corydalis solida. Below: Scilla bifolia, Pulmonaria officinalis.

Those flowers are truly unique. For example, the cyclama is protected and listed in the Red book of protected plants. The pulmonaria blooms in different colours at the same stem. This is because the substance in the cells of the plant changes. You can see also the well-known crocus and scilla with their beautiful soft colored petals. Soon, the trees will dress up in green leaves for the summer and you will be able to observe the isopyrum and anemone.

Remember to protect the flowers for the future generations and don’t pick them!

Around the pathways at the Shumen Plateau, starting from the Monument “Founders of the Bulgarian State”, going towards the Divdyadovo rocks and on the pathways around the Grave of the students ( Groba na kursistite), the higher parts of Kyoshkove park and the pathways towards the caves “Rusalka” and “Biserna”.
