Тhe Day of Unification – September 6

Shumen will celebrate the Day of Unification – September 6 by laying wreaths and flowers in front of the Monument to the people of Shumen who died in the wars. The ritual will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Crystal Square. Dr. Antonia Paneva, head of the State Archives in Shumen, will deliver a speech on the occasion of the holiday.

After that, from 11:00 a.m., a commemorative ceremony will also take place in front of the memorial plaque in the historical area “Marashka Koriya”, where in the summer of 1885 the Bulgarian army, led by Prince Alexander Battenberg, conducted practice shootings. There, envoys of the Bulgarian Secret Central Revolutionary Committee convinced the prince and he agreed to head the Union of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia.

Free bus transport is provided for citizens who wish to attend the ritual in the village of Marash.
