“Biserna” cave opens for tourists from September 10

From September 10, Saturday, “Biserna” cave opens for tourists.

Entry will only be possible with prior registration by calling 054/800 765 at the Directorate of Nature Park “Shumensko Plateau”. Visits will be possible on all Saturdays and Sundays until the beginning of November at 10 am, 11.30 am, 1 pm and 3 pm, and on working days the cave will be entered from 10 am, 11.30 am and 1 pm h.

No tourists will be accepted on Monday and Tuesday.

The minimum number of visitors is 8, and the maximum is 12. We remind you that the route inside is about 800 meters long in one direction. The Biserna cave can be reached on foot, as the forest road is not suitable for cars. Vehicles can be parked on the asphalt road before the turn for the Shumen Municipality villa. There are two pedestrian routes – from “Kyoshkove” park – “Lesson on the forest path” and from the junction for the “Old Town” fortress on the way to the villa of the Shumen municipality. Signs are placed on all routes.

The temperature in “Biserna” cave is 10 degrees. Due to the high humidity and cave waters, it is recommended that tourists wear suitable closed shoes and warm clothing.

Tourists will be accepted until November, as it is consistent with the life cycle of bats, whose habitat is the cave. During the cold months, the winged mammals hibernate to survive without food until spring, and disturbance during this period is prohibited.
