Shumen’s flag flew over Antarctica

Schuman’s flag flew on Livingstone Island at the South Pole. The flag was raised by Shumen chief petty officer Anna Stoyanova, who is a cadet at the Naval School in Varna. She is part of the crew of our polar ship that transported the 32nd National Expedition to Antarctica and the equipment they needed to open our home base there. The Shumen flag flies just 10 km from Mount Shumen in Tangra Mountain on the ice continent. Peak Shumen received this name in honor of the city of Shumen in 2002. It rises above the Chariti glacier in the west, the Tarnovo glacier in the south and the Prespa glacier in the southeast.
