A symbol of the Revival architecture of the 30s of the 19th c., the house is connected with both Bulgarian and Hungarian history. It was home of the trader and mayor of Shumen Hadji Dimitraki Hadjipanev where the leader of the Hungarian revolution Lajos Kossuth lived during his exile. The restored interior illustrating a wealthy Bulgarian home of the Revival period is combined with a documentary exposition depicting the Hungarian revolution of 1848-1849, and the life of its leader – Lajos Kossuth. A hall was built to serve an exposition called “Bulgarian-Hungarian cultural relations” where temporary expositions are also displayed.
