The “Bukaka” reserve is located within the boundaries of Shumensko Plateau Nature Park. It was declared a reserve in February 5th, 1980, under order № 79 by the Committee for Preserving Nature. Its aim is to preserve the existing vegetation which consists of precious tree species, mainly Moesian Beech forests. Hornbeam, oak, maple, hawthorn, dog rose, and blackberry can also be seen in the reserve. Spring grass cover is filled with squill, pasque flower, solomon’s seal and lilium martagon. Wildlife species found include fox, rabit, badger, deer, wild boar, gray hamster, and red deer which is rarely seen.
The reserve covers a total area of 62.6 ha.
